Jeska Announces Western Canadian Tour

MONTREAL, QUEBEC - February 16, 2004 - Jeska, Montréal's latest contribution to the North American jazz scene, announced a Western Canadian tour for the Spring of 2004. The tour is scheduled to begin in Montreal, QC in April and travel to more than 6 other cities in Western Canada including: Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB; Banff Springs, AB; Vancouver, BC; Whistler, BC; Victoria, BC; and Kelowna, BC.

“The announcement of our tour comes at time when Jeska is particularly involved in spreading our music to a wide variety of listeners,†said Steve McKnight, master trumpet player for the Jeska Quintet. “We have been playing together for awhile now – and it is really beginning to show on the bandstand. We like to feature compositions for every member of the quintet.â€

The tour is scheduled to kick off in Montreal in late April, at which point the group will be flying to Alberta and British Columbia, finishing up sometime in mid May. In addition to scheduled performances, the group will be conducting a series of educational workshops and demonstrations for the younger jazz musicians – visiting select British Columbia schools and colleges.
