 A native of Toronto, Jonathan Daniel (J.D.) Katz moved to Montreal to attend the faculty of music at McGill University three and a half years ago. Since his arraival in Montreal he has slowly built himself a place in the Montreal music scene. From the world renown McGill Symphony Orchestra, to touring rock acts, Fusion bands, New Orleans style brass band, cocktail jazz, concert jazz and back to the prestigious McGill Jazz Big Band 1, J.D. is sticking his volumous nose into every musical door he can find. Has performed with, Phil Woods, Roland Bourgeouis, Greg Clayton, McGill Big Band 1, McGill Symphony Orchestra, McGill Contemporary music ensemble, McGill Wind Symphony, McGill Big band 3, Toronto Sympohony Youth Orchestra, Hannaford Street Youth Brass Band, and has studied with Andre White, Dave laing, Michel Lambert, D’arcy Gray, Gordon Foote, Jan Jarcyk, Chris McCann, and Indian Mrandgam virtuoso Trichy Sankaran. |
